The landscape design for OHSU’s 14-story LEED Silver inpatient
addition transforms a steep, forested site into a cohesive,
restorative experience. A welcoming entry plaza, pedestrian
drop-off, and sculptural stormwater feature define a welcoming and
dignified arrival sequence, balancing clarity with beauty. Terraced
planting beds, accessible paths with seating niches, and elevated
walkways thread through the site, linking to adjacent buildings and
easing complex site circulation. At the heart of the design, an
overlook terrace offers sweeping views and a tranquil gathering
space for patients, staff, and visitors to connect with nature. This
richly vegetated landscape supports healing and wellbeing by merging
healthcare, ecology, and the Pacific Northwest landscape.
